TENNIS ENTHUSIASTS

WAEREMGA-A-HIKA CLUB SEASON OPENED (Herald Correspondent.) Ideal weather encouraged a large attendance of tennis enthusiasts to the Waerenga-a-hika club’s courts on Saturday afternoon. Visitors from the Kia Ora club were present.

The courts are in very good order, and some excellent play was witnessed. Afternoon tea was served from the pavilion by the ladies.

During an interval an opportunity was taken by the vice-president, Mr. R. B. Jones, to make a presentation on behalf of the club of a piece of crystal to a member, Miss J. Pardoe whose marriage takes place shortly. The recipient suitably responded.

Those present included Mrs. Candy; Misses M. Herbert, J. Coop, E. flowcroft, M. Greig, M. O'Rourke, J. Pardoe, I. Walsh, M. Cumming, P. Ingram, and W. Fenton.

It was announced that the club would hold a dance in the Ormond Hall on November 29. for which Mrs. Thomson's orchestra had been engaged.

The Waerenga-a-hika club members will be visitors at the opening of the Kia Ora Tennis Club on November 18. when tennis, bowls, and croquet will be played.
