MOTU WEDDING
DONALDSON—MOFFATT BEAUTIFUL GOWN MAGNOLIA CREPE SATIN (Herald Correspondent.) St. Paul's Church, Motu, was artisdcally decorated last Saturday for .he marriage of Freda Moffatt, daughter of Mrs. T. Jackson, Motu, and the late Mr. 11. Moffatt, Cumberland, England, to Sydney, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Donaldson, Motu. The Rev. J. D. Hodgson, To Karaka, was the officiating clergyman, and Miss L. Brooks presided' at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her stepfather, chose a beautiful gown if magnolia crepe satin, the skirt being cut to form a slight train. The bodice was finished at the neckline with gold clasps, and a rucked girdle defined the waist. A tulle veil fell in graceful folds form a halo of orange blossom, and magnolia satin Jioes were worn. A bouquet of roses, ■animations, irises, and maidenhair fern completed a charming toilette. The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Misses Mana Jackson and Dorothy Donaldson, who wore dainty frocks of pink and mauve net respectively. Both frocks were mounted on corn spot taffeta and finished with tiny satin buttons of a contrasting shade. Head-dresses of handmade net roses and bouquets of mixed roses toned with the frocks.
Mr. Geoffrey Brooks, Gisborne, was the best man, and Mr. M. Hall was groomsman.
Reception Held in Hall
Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Motu Hall, where the usual toasts were honoured. The tables were effectively decorated with tall vases of pink roses and mauve irises, and posy bowls of sweet peas, while a large while bell and two -mall pink bells were suspended over the bridal party. The three-tiered wedding cake was decorated to tone with the bride's frock. The guests were received by Mr. and Mrs. Jackson, the latter wearing a frock of American floral silk in shades of blue, with a navy sheer coat and navy straw hat, and carrying a posy of red and pink roses. Mrs. F. Donaldson, mother of the bridegroom, chose a gown of Forrester green wool crepe, and a black hat with a shaded green floral mount, her bouquet being composed of carnations and roses. Mrs. E. Whitehead, sister of the bride, wore a frock of fern green wool georgette, with a matching coat and white straw hat.
Later in the evening a jolly dance was attended by a large number of guests, Miss Una Reed supplying the music.
Prior to her marriage, Miss Moffatt. who was a prominent member of the Motu Tennis Club, Basketball Club and Dramatic Circle, was entertained by the members of the Women’s Institute at a delightful afternoon party, and presented with a handsome table-cloth.
