ARMAMENT ORDERS

(Reed. Nov. 14, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 13.

The United Press of America says it is estimated that the net war gain in 1940 to United States business will amount to £176,000.000. which is about one per cent of the anticipated national income. It adds that £200,000.000 in. armament business is expected in the nesi 12 months, but the loss, of peacetime trade will possibly be £40,000,000. Aircraft -orders at present are worth £0,000,000, with £14,000,000 expected immediately.

The Federal Works Administrator. Mr. John Carmody, predicts that the war spending will re-employ only 500,000 of the 9,000,000 unemployed.

BOMBERS RECOVERED

SALVAGE FROM BARGE

The two Lockheed bombers destined for Britain were recovered undamaged from the barge which was reported on Saturday to have sunk at a pier. There is no evidence of sabotage.
