CRICKET TRIALS

SELECTION OF TEAM COMING REP. FIXTURES NAMES OF 24 PLAYERS

In an effort to obtain flic best possible team to take part in the provincial cricket tournament in Hamilton between Christmas and New Year and the Hawke Cup fixture to be played immediately after, it is proposed to conduct three representative trial matches on November 19; December 3 and December 17, following which the final selection will be announced. This was a decision reached yesterday afternoon at the meeting of the management committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association. It was decided to advise the players to take part in all the trials they were chosen for as their play in those tests would have a great bearing on their selection. Of the two teams chosen for play, Messrs. D. A. Wells and P. IT. Dow were elected captains. Any of the following players unable to take part in the first match, to start at Hi a.m. this week-end, are to communicate with the selector, Mr. P. H. Dow. Possibles. —D. A. Wells (G.H.5.0.8.), E. James (Marist). A. McLean (City), D. Crawford (City), "G. H. Stewart (City), A. C. Wilson (G.H.5.0.8.). I. Niven (Old Boys), C. Fraser (Old Bovs); E. Martin (Old Boys), D. Cederwall (G.H.5.0.8.), R. Carroll (G.H.5.0.8.), and J. Barbour (G.H.5.0.8.), twelfth man.

There were present Messrs. J. de V. W. Blathwayt, chairman, G. A. Revell. E. H. Bilham, G. E. Slade, and the hon. secretary, Mr. Wells.
