ONLY HALF NEEDED

NEW RADIO BUILDING MINISTER’S EXPLANATION (Spocial to tliu Herald.) WELLINGTON, this day. The acting-Minister of Broadcasting, the Hon. F. Jones, stated to-day that the two-storeyed building for IZB radio station would have been adequate but the recommendation for four storeys was agreed to because a site in Auckland was expensive. The Government was advised that the two extra storeys could be readily let. “Thus only about half of the muchcriticised expenditure,” added Mr. Jones, “will be for the radio station. The Government Accommodation Board tried for about two years to secure an adequate Auckland building for this radio service but failed.”
