ALTERATION IN DATE ANNUAL MEETING HELD (Special 1 to llio Herald.) WAIROA, this day. A decision to hold its annual sports meeting on Saturday, January 6, 1940, instead of Boxing Day, was reached at the annual meeting of theTe Reinga Sports Club. In advocating an alteration in the ! date of the sports, the chairman, Mr. j D. H. Evans, contended that Boxing Day had outdone its usefulness so far :as sports were concerned. He cx--1 pressed the opinion that people were attracted elsewhere on that particular ! day. It was poinied out by the secretary, Mr. A. H. 11. Unwin, that a regatta was usually held on Waikarcmoana on Boxing Day, and that fixture had attracted a great many people in the past. Election of Officers The following officers were elected: President, Mr. A. W. Richardson; vicepresidents, Messrs. W. Whyte, D. Graham, P. Richardson, D. Evans, T. Delaney, A. Reid, O. Evans, N. Law, sen., and H. Tipoki; committee, Messrs. D. Evans, chairman, V. Noble-Camp-bell, E. W. Richardson, H. Morice, F. Law, S. Spence, T. Tipoki, N. Law, R. Mossman, K. McKenzie, C. I. Walker, J. Winchester, V. Watt, G. Douglas; treasurer, Mr. D. Evans; secretary, Mr. A. li. H. Unwin; horse and ring stewards, Messrs. D. Evans, E. W. Richardson, H. McKenzie; sheep weight estimating, Mr. V. Watt; side events, Messrs. G. Douglas and C. Walker.

It was decided to include a local men’s 100yds. race and a ladies' open 100yds. race on the programme for the 1940 meeting, and also to alter the station hack event to station hack most suitable for general station work.

It was agreed to hold a dance on the evening of the sports in Tiniroto and the following committee was appointed to, make the necessary arrangements;—Mr V. Noble-Camp-beli, chairman, and Mrs. Campbell. Mr. E. W. Richardson, Mr. and Mrs. T. Fahey, and Mr. and Mrs. G. Douglas.
