COMMERCIAL

EAST COAST CATTLE

SALE IN WAIKATO EASING IN MARKETS Generally speaking, the Waikato is carrying plenty of feed, but the dry conditions prevailing, following the recent cold winds, have considerably cheeked pasture growth, and rain is anxiously awaited by both grazier and fanner alike. All sections of trie stock market, with the exception of pigs, show an easing tendency, which is natural at this time of the year. Apparently the market for fat stock is over-supplied. Bidding is somewhat restricted owing to the inch of export competition, which would greatly relieve the present situation, and fuller details in connection with charges to 1'.0.b. on the Government’s recently announced meat prices arc eagerly awaited. Exporters would then be in a position to operate freely and so relieve any congestion in this section. The recent demand for store cattle has abated to some extent during the past week, and with larger offerings of station-bred cattle at most yards, values generally have shown an easing tendency. A special sale of East Coast cattle is scheduled to take place next week, and no doubt good quality cattle will be procurable at reasonable prices.
