ROWING SEASON

FIRST TRIAL FOURS GISBORNE CLUB RACING Racing commenced last evening in the Gisborne Rowing Club’s first trial fours of the season over the threequarter mile course on the Taruheru River. Menzies (bow), by 1| lengths. The start was even, but thereafter Burridge’s crew settled down well, and gradually drew ahead to a two-length lead. The second race resulted in a win for J. Gemmell (str.), T. Williams (3), L. Franks (2), F. Henry (bow), who defeated A. Terry (str.), G. Owen (3), T. Moughan (2), and W. Hoy (bow). Gemmell took his crew away to an excellent start, and there was clear water between the boats at the footbridge.
