SENTENCES PASSED
NEW PLYMOUTH CASES (Por Pross Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. Prisoners were /sentenced in the Supreme Court to-day. Frederick Cowling, a farmer, for the theft of sheep, was ordered to pay £5 and was sentenced to nine months’ hard labour. Thomas Harris, for indecent assault on a boy, an indecent act, and common assault, was sentenced to reformative detention not exceeding two years on the first count. Amos Edward Williamson, for failing to stop after a motor collision, was admitted to probation for one year and was ordered to pay £l3 7s 3d, the costs of the prosecution. His present driving license was suspended and he was disqualified from obtaining a license for 18 months.
Robert Angus, for the theft of a mail bag, was admitted to one year’s probation and was ordered to pay £5 towards the costs of the prosecution. David Dawson, for forgery and uttering, was admitted to probation for one year and ordered to pay £4 11s, the costs of the prosecution.
