SUPPORT FOR ALLIES

BELGIAN INTELLECTUALS LONDON, Oct. 18. Belgian University professors and other intellectuals have issued a manifesto declaring that they, as private citizens, have a right to express their feelings regarding the international conflict despite Belgium’s official neutrality.

They state that it is impossible for them to put on the same level their former comrades and those who held the country under a merciless military occupation during four years—those who had provoked the present hostilities.

The manifesto concludes with ar expression, of deep sympathy for Poland.
