Nov. 4. 11 a.m.) - LONDON, Nov. 3. intense aerial activity occurred over the Firth of Forth area following a report; that enemy raiders had approached the .Scottish coast. An engagement hot ween British fighters and Forman raiders is believed to have occurred a few miles out to sea from the Firth. Immediately the preliminary warning was given the fighters took off in the direction of the sea. No sirens were sounded and no sounds of gunfire was heard. Reports from the Western Front state that two British fighters brought down a German bomber near Roubaix. The pilot was killed and another office]- wounded. Two other Germans were'taken prisoner. Each lighter fired one burst and forced the German bomber to crash info a hedge and lopple over a hank into a brook. Scout Machines Shot Down. Paris reports that Allied anti-aircraft guns and a British pursuit plane shot down two or three German planes which were attempting to reconnoitre the British lines. One plane flew back to German territory, trailing a column of smoke. Minor German troop movements are occurring north of Saareguimines, cast of which the German artillery was active. A French official morning communique states that the night was quiet. There was some artillery and infantry fire. During yesterday a German twin-engined reconnaissance plane • was brought down in French territory by a British fighter. A further report from Paris states that the air activity in October when 10 German planes were brought down, w r as less than in .September, when the total was 28. The Nazis apparently are landing spies by parachute behind the lines, two such having been identified.
