Last Night’s Forecast

General situation: An anticyclone extends from the Tasman on to New Zealand while a series of westerly dcpress ions is pnssin?? to the .south o the Dominion.

Forecast: Winds mainly light, fresh and rather variable in direction, but with sea breezes along the East Coast, south-westerlies predominating at first in western areas and the tar north. Seas; In New Zealand waters rather rourb at times about Foveaux Strait. Elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman: south-west to west winds predominating, ligh. to mode.ate m the northern portion with slight seas, but strong at times in the southern portion with rather rough seas. Weather: For the most part lair to fine. Occasional scattered rains probable, however, in the far south-west and south. Temperatures: Cool in the south, but mild elsewhere.

To-Day's North Island Report The barometric pressure showed

slight rise this morning and the pressure at Gisborne was a shade above normal. The temperatures wore: Tauranga and Onotiki, tin degrees; Gisborne and Napier, 33; Auckland, 37: Wellington, 31. Southerly winds oi moderate force were general. The sky was overcast at all points along the East Coast at 9 a.m.. with the exception of Tnuranga and Opotiki. The sea was rough at Cape Palliscr, but elsewhere slight to moderate. Midday Forecast General situation.—An anticyclone covers the New Zealand area. Forecast. —Light to fresh southerly winds. Some scattered rain prooable in coastal districts, but weather mainly fair to cloudy and cool. Seas rather rough.
