"THE ROARING FORTIES"

BRIGHTON, Eng., Sept. 13

“When a person gets to the age of 40, the years rush past with a roaring sound. This is known as the Roaring Forties.”

This schoolgirl “howler” was quoted by Miss E. Stopford, headmistress of St. Mary’s Hall, Brighton, at a prizegiving contest.
