MATAWHERO STOCK SALE
The offering of fat cattle, store and fat sheep at to-day’s Matawhero stock sale met with a strong demand and in some instances values were firmer. Beef
The beef market was good for quality lots. Good P.A. cows brought £lO 5s and £lO 7s fid, with others selling at £9 Is and £9 7s fid. Good Jersey cows made from £5 to £5 15s. Prices:
Cows.—One good black dairy cow, £5; 1 Holstein-Jersey cross, £5 15s; 1 medium Jersey, £3 15s; 1 ditto, £3 4s; 1 ditto, £3 17s; 1 good Jersey cross, £5 2s 6d; 1 good average Jersey, £5; 1 good Hereford-P.A, cross, £9 7s fid; 5, good, P.A., £lO 7s fid; 5 ditto, £lO ss; 1 good P.A., £9 Is; 2, good, Jersey, £5 15s; 2, black, £6 12s 6d.
Heifers.—One small Jersey, £4 Is 1 red and white, £6 17s fid; 2, Jersey. £4 11s; 1 small Jersey, £4 11s. Fat Sheep
For a small yarding of fat sheep the market was firmer, the offering being in good demand. Woolly ewes made from 20s to 21s fid, hoggets 18s fid to 20s 9d, and shorn ewes 15s 7d to 17s fid Prices:
Woolly Ewes.—-Sixteen, 20s 7d; 11, 21s Id; 4,21 s fid; 5,20 s Id.
Wethers. —Two, 255,
Hoggets.—Sixteen, Southdown, 19s; 7, Southdown, 18s Id; 5, long wool, 20s 9d; 14, Southdown. 18s. Shorn Ewes.—Six, 15s 7d; 25, lfis lOd; 13, 17s 6d. Store Sheep
The store sheep market was very lively, all -classes being in great demand. Woolly wethers realised from 22s to 22s 4d, with shorn 2-tooths at 14s lOd; shorn ewes, with lambs, 18s to 22s 2d; woolly, 25s 5d to 28s; store aged ewes, to 14s 6d for woolly and 12s 3d for shorn; woolly ewe hoggets, to 25s sd; ditto, wethers, to 19s 4d; good Southdown hoggets, to 15s 6d for woolly and 17s 4d for shorn. Prices:
Two-tooth Ewes. —Eighty-nine, average size, good condition, 19s 3d; 42, fairly good size and condition, 235. Wethers.—One hundred and twenty, woolly, good store condition, on account of Mr. S. Swarbrick, 22s 4d; 78, shorn, 2th, fresh condition, 14s lOd; 64, hard condition, 225. Shorn Ewes and Lambs—Fifteen fairly good ewes, and 13 medium lambs, 23s 4d; 43 medium conditioned ewes, and 40 fair lambs, 18s; 35 ewes, in good order, and 35 average Southdown lambs, 22s 2d; 23 medium conditioned ewes and 25 medium lambs, 20s 2d; 24 and 23, as last, 20s Id. Store Ewes. —Twenty-live, in good order, shorn, 4 and oth, 17s Id; 30, shorn, medium condition, 10s lOd; 18, woolly, medium condition, 14s 6d; 58, shorn, in good order, 10s 6d; 11, in good order. 10s lOd; 12, good store condition, 9s 8d; 11, shorn, good condition, 12s 3d. Woolly Ewes and Lambs.—Twelve, fairly good order ewes, and 14 lambs of mixed sizes, 25s sd; 5 good ewes, G good lambs, 28s. Woolly Ewe Hoggets.—Thirty, fairly good size and condition, 22s 3d; 5 extra, 25s sd.
Woolly Wether Hoggets.—Eleven, a fairly good line, 18s 3d; 6, good size and condition, 19s 4d.
Southdown Hoggets. Twenty-two, shorn, good condition, 15s 6d; 13, good size and condition, woolly, 17s 4d.
