OLD-AGE PENSIONS
INQUIRY IN BRITAIN PROMISE BY MINISTER (Reed. Nov. 3, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 2. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir John Simon, winding up a debate in the House of Commons on old-age pensions, declared that the inquiry into the question would be resumed immediately and would be carried out with the greatest expedition.
A Labour Party motion for an immediate improvement was defeated by 264 votes to 144.
