BELIEVED SAFE

FREIGHTER COULMORE ATTACKER ELUDED (Reed. Nov. 3, 10 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 2. A message received in London states that the attacker was eluded by the British freighter Coulmore which was reported yesterday to have wirelessed for help, stating that she had sighted a submarine, some 080 miles due east of New York.

Washington reports that the Camperdown radio had been informed that the Coulmore was safe.

Despite this report of safety considerable scepticism was felt. The validity of the radio message was doubted and' the American coastguard continued the search.

Later the Associated Press of America stated that the Coulmore herself had reported her safety and search, therefore, was suspended. The vessel gave her position as just withing the neutrality belt.
