COASTAL TRADE The Wainui arrived at Gisborne this morning from Napier. The ship brought general cargo to Gisborne from South Island ports and Wellington. and was expected to clear this port during the afternoon lor Dunedin. The Wainui will lead at South Island ports next week for Gisborne and Napier. The Kiwitea, with coal, timber and posts from Westport and Greymouth, is now at Napier and is due at Gisborne on Tuesday.
The Kopara left Gisborne at 4.1.5 p.m. yesterday for Waikokopu and Napier. Later the ship proceeds to northern ports, loading at Portland on Monday and at Auckland on Tuesday for Coast, bays, Gisborne and Napier.
The Margaret W. was not able to finish discharging and loading operations at Gisborne yesterday, but departed this morning for Tolaga Bay, Tokomaru Bay and Auckland. She will load ns usual next week for the Coast and Gisborne. The Pukeko arrived at Lyttelton yesterday aftornoc n from Gisborne. The ship load-: at Lyttelton for Napier. Waikokopu, Gisborne and the Coast and completes at Wellington to-morrow. The '. esrcl arrives lure on Tuesday.
The auxiliary scow Altair, from Auckland, discharged a shipment ot benzine in drums at Gisborne to-day, and departed in the afternoon for Auckland.
MASTER RETIRES The retirement has been announced of Captain F. R. O’Sullevan, who has held commands in the Orient Line service since April, 1919. Captain O’Sullcvan, whos ■ early nautical training was gained on H.M.S. Conway, later served in tramp steamers, and entered the service of the Orient Line as fourth officer in the Ormuz in March. 1908. He served through the Great War in H.M.S. Otranto, which took part in the Battle ol Coronel and later visited Sydney to refit. Captain O'Sullcvan's first voyage to Australia after the war was in the s.s. Fricdriehsi uli, which brought troops home to Australia. The Orient liners under Captain O’Sullcvan's command were Ormuz, Orvieto, Otranto, Orontes and Orcadcs.
