STAFF CHANGES

GISBORNE SCHOOL PRESENTATIONS MADE Two members of the teaching staff of the Gisborne Central School were farewelled at an informal gathering of the school committee and staff. On behalf of the parents, Mr. J. H Sunderland, chairman of the committee, made a presentation of a fountain pen to Mr. D. C. Clarkson and expressed appreciation of the interest he had taken in the school grounds ancl thanked him for the improvements he had effected.

Mr. Clarkson was held in high esteem by the pupils ancl staff and at a farewell function he was made the recipient of several gifts' from the staff. These took the form of an electric clock, toaster and jug. In making the presentation, Mr. Shimmin spoke in appreciation of Mr. Clarkson’s excellent work in the school. The gifts from the pupils took the form of a piece of chinaware and a suitcase.

Mr. Clarkson left Gisborne yesterday for Auckland, where he takes up an appointment as an assistant on the staff of Point Chevalier School.

Mr. Sunderland also made a presentation on behalf of the committee to Miss A. M. Reynolds, who has filled a relieving position on the staff during the absence of Miss A. Oxenham on sick leave. Miss Oxenham resumes her duties on Monday.
