WIDOW CLAIMS £5035
DEATH OF HUSBAND MOTOR FATALITY (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Damages totalling £5035 Is 6d were claimed by Mrs. liernardine Maud Roach, Otaki, in the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr. Justice Johnston and a jury of 12, on behalf of herscli and eight infant children. The claim arose from the death of her husband, a carpenter, as a result of injuries he received when a car in which he was a passenger collided with another on the main highway near To Horo last march. There wee three defendants, Daniel George Fraser, licensee of the New Central Hotel, Petone, in whose car Roach was a passenger, Ronald Graeme Guy, rental car proprietor, Hastings, owner of the other car and Whiu Cerrol, a fanner, Hastings, driver of Guy's car.
Plaintiff said that her husband was 57 at the time of his death and shewas 33. The children ranged from one to 14 years. Negligence on the part of one or other of the drivers was alleged to be responsible, such alleged negligence on the part of each being set out. It was explained that Fraser picked up Roach at Waikanae to take him to a meeting of racing club stewards at Otaki.
