PERSONAL
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Evans, Rotorua, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Muir, Stafford street. Constable 11. Hunter, the Gisborne police delegate to the annual conference of the New Zealand Police Association, has returned to Gisborne from Wellington. Major A. H. Carrington, formerly of the New Zealand Staff Corps, has been appointed brigade major of the 182nd (Birmingham) Infantry Brigade of the Cist Division.
The appointment has been made ot Lieutenant-Colonel F. P. Heath, of Otumoctai. Tauranga, to command the New Zealand Divisional Engineers in the special military force. Colonel Heath is a former officer of the Royal Engineers,
The Mayor, Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P., leaves Gisborne to-morrow morning for Wellington to fulfil a series of engagements in the city. On Saturday and Monday he will attend a meeting of the Government party, and on Tuesday a meeting of the Select Committee for Defence. He will be present at the opening of the Centennial Exhibition on Wednesday, and the following day will attend a conference of the provincial councils of patriotic funds, returning to Gisborne about midnight on Friday.
