QUEEN CARNIVAL
ACTIVITY IN WAIROA CONTROLLING EXECUTIVE (Spiicinl to tin; Itc.vnlil.) WAIROA, this day. Reports made at a recent meeting jf the controlling executive indicated that progress was being made in all sections of Wairoa's queen carnival m.d particularly gratifying was the revived interest and renewed activity in the Maori section. It was reported that the regatta committee was keen to carry on with 'he original plan for a speedboat regatta on the Wairoa River on December 30. Approximately 20 outside 'seats would be competing, and a successful meeting was assured. Messrs. B. G. Signal!, 11. II O'Loughlen and .1. Woolf were appointed to confer with the regatta committee and reporl to the next meeting.
It. was decided to hold another art union similar to the previous one. Books of tickets would be issued to the various queen committees and they would be credited with votes to Llx value of 75 per cent of the sales they made. It was expected that this move would greatly stimulate ticket sales. County Affairs A meeting was held recently of represcntatives of the county committees from all parts ot the district. The necessity for some form of centralised control for the county campaign was stressed by a number of speakers and as a result the following central county executive was appointed:— Chairman, Mr. W.
