BRIEF CALL MADE
THE CITY OF FLINT ESCORT FROM TROMSO WASHINGTON CONCERN NOTE TO BELLIGERENTS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Nov. 1, 11.50 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 31. A Copenhagen message states that the American freighter, City of Flint, flying the Nazi flag and with 18 Germans aboard, called at Tromso and left accompanied by a Norwegian destroyer.
The United States State Department is informing Britain and Germany that the United States Government expects all belligerents to guard against exposing the Americans in the City of Flint to unnecessary dangers.
The correspondent of the American Associated Press says that two eventualities most feared are that the German prize crew may destroy the vessel if the British attempt to capture it, or that the British may sink the ship. The latter is considered mos unlikely.
