WRECKED BY HITLER
TRADE CO-OPERATION
BRITAIN AND GERMANY (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Oct. 28. The friendly agreement between British and German industrialists, intended to help the trade of both countries and negotiated earlier this year, which was on the point of being negotiated when Herr Hitler wrecked the prospect of co-operation by his repudiation in March of the undertaking he gave to the Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, at Munich, is recalled in a letter that the director of the Federation of British Industries has sent to The Times. Mr. Locock refers to the allegation by the German Foreign Minister, Herr von Ribbentrop, that British policy is hostile to Germany and that the Munich agreement was only an expedient to gain time. Mr. Locock says: “I doubt if responsible leaders of German industry have forgotten the opportunity offered to them and which was frustrated by the insane desire for domination which characterises the present regime in Germany.”
