FIRMER UNDERTONE
BRITISH STOCK MARKETS WAR LOAN ADVANCES (British Officinl Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Oct. 28. Looking back on the week’s stock markets, press commentators record the consolidation of the firm undertone which has been growing over the past few weeks. The war loan, which closed yesterday at £9l 17s 6d, ex dividend, had made a net advance over the week of £2 7s 6d. The index of industrial shares compiled by the Financial News rose 1.5 to 74.6, following rises of 2 and 2.4 in the two preceding weeks. The Treasury bill rate fell yesterday to 23/8.83d, compared with 34/3.39d last week.
