RETURN TO SPAIN

CHILD REFUGEES BRITISH RELIEF WORK (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Oct. 28. In announcing a decision, taken in co-operation with the Foreign Office, to return to Spain in the course of the next few weeks of every child who can possibly return, the Basque Children's Committee gave some interesting details of the work of the national joint committee for Spanish relief—the British committee for refugees from Spain and the Basque Children’s Committee.

Since July, 1936—the outbreak of war in Spain—voluntary organisations throughout the world raised over £4,500,000. Britain tops the list, just ahead of the United States and France, with a total of over £1,000,000. Between the winter of 1938 and the first three months of 1939 the national joint committee sent 29 food ships, to Spain.
