SHOOTING OF PIGEONS
Several prosecutions for illegal killing of native pigeons were heard in the Rotorua Magistrate’s Court before Mi'. S. L. Paterson, S.M., the cases being brought by the Department of Internal Affairs, for whom Mr. E. Roe appeared.
A feature of the prosecution was the fact that the majority of the offenders were Maoris, who seemed to believe that in regard to killing pigeons there was one law for Europeans and another for Maoris.
