POTATO SUPPLIES
STILL AT HIGH PRICE LOCAL CROPS DELAYED High prices are being maintained for the small supplies of last season’s potatoes available in the Dominion, and an increase occurred recently to £2O per ton, f.0.b., southern ports, equal to approximately .£22 5s to £22 10s in Gisborne.
Only small supplies of new potatoes from local crops are available at present, and the prices for these also are being maintained at a high level. It is expected that the next few weeks should see increasing quantities on the market from district crops.
At present new potatoes in Gisborne are being sold at 5d and 6d per lb, with small sizes down to 3d. Old potatoes are being retailed at 6s (id per 281 b.
