£ GISBORNE VISIT L WEEK-END HERE S 3 1 3 , sections of the Scout movement extended a welcome to the chief c(jsam|ssioner for New Zealand, Mr. Hector Christie, Wanganui. who arrived in Gisborne yesterday on a special visit. i
: >Last evening the chief commissioner met in turn the patrol leaders, members of the committee, and scoutmasters and Rovers. This afternoon hcrijis to -inspect a combined parade of Glib packs and afterwards a parade of Sea Scouts. He will be present at a combined parade of Scout troops this evening, and his visit will extend over the week-end. Mr. Christie leaves Gisborne on Monday morning for Wanganui.
The marked development of Scouting'in Gisborne was commented upon by;i the chief commissioner when speaking to a Herald representative this morning. He said that the improvement was most marked, and was shown by the increase in public interest, a larger number of boys taking part;''’'slid the spirit of optimism general in the movement.
