LOWER BANK RATE
REDUCTION IN ENGLAND EVIDENCE OF CONFIDENCE (British Official Wireless.) Reed. noon. RUGBY, Oct. 27. The reduction of the bank rate yesterday from 3 to 2 per cent is described in The Times’ City column as at once an acknowledgment and a further contribution to the growth ot confidence which has taken place over the last few weeks.
The Daily Telegraph City editor says that the restoration of the pre-war regime of cheap money is remarkable ■ testimony to the effectiveness of the new technique of control and to the solid basis of the nation’s finances and British service.
