High Cost of Packing Cases
Importers of goods from the United Kingdom are faced with a rise of some hundreds per cent in the costs of packing cases. This is a result oi a timber scarcity iri Britain caused by Germany shilling shipping from the Baltic countries, from which most supplies are drawn. On consignment of printing paser, cases about 2ft. .by lift., which formerly cost importers from 5s to Gs each, arc now debited at 22s Gd sterling. Crates containing scwt, or less arc charged for at 20«, and bales, which contain timber at two ends only, now cost 15s.
