Last Night’s Forecast General situation: A depression is located in the vicinity of Chatham Island, while the barometers over the Dominion are continuing to rise with the approach of an anti-cyclone from the west.
Forecast: Winds southrwest .to. southerly prevailing, strong on parts of the East Coast, otherwise moderate to fresh but gradually decreasing in force. Seas: In New Zealand waters, rough from Otago Peninsula to East Cape, rather rough north of Kawhia. slight to moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman • Sea: Moderate to fresh southerly writ ids and moderate seas. Weather: Fine on the west coast of the* South Island, showery in eastern districts from Canterbury to beyond Hawke's Bay: otherwise mainly fair, although rather changeable. Temperatures: Cool to cold, with some frosts probable to-night in both islands.
