FATE OF GNEISENAU

BOMB DOWN FUNNEL

NORWEGIAN STORY (Reed, Oct:. 27, noon.) LONDON, Oct. 20. Did the planes of the Royal Air Force sink the German battleship Gneiscnau during the Wilhflmshaven raid? This question is now being further discussed. A Norwegian newspaper, the Ardeiderbladet, publishes a story from an eye-witness claiming that a bomb fell down the Gneisenau’s funnel, breaking the ship in half, but the British Air Ministry has no confirmation of the report.

It is reported from Berlin that the Germans have offered to allow neutrals to inspect the Gncisenau.
