GERMANS ON WESTERN FRONT

CONTINUANCE OF BAD WEATHER

DALADIER AND ARMY CHIEF CONFER

FURTHER STORY OF WARSAW MISERY

CONTINENTAL ’PHONE INTERRUPTION

(Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Oc-t. 27, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 26

A French communique issued in Paris says that the night was quiet on the Western Front. Bad weather was experienced. A German offensive is considered probable despite the conciliatory propaganda to France. The terrain is sfil practicable despite the rain.

The Premier of France, M. Daladior held a. conleienct with the Commander-in-Chiei', Marshal Gamelin. Further eye-witness accounts given in Paris-concerning conditions in Warsaw reveal the greatest misery and destruction. The cost of living is fantastically high. Even dogs are in great demand as food and cost up to 10/- a piece. No electric light, water, nor transport services are available. The Royal Palace, Bank of National Economy, the Opera House, the Art Gallery and streets of other famous buildings are wrecked.

The Amsterdam correspondent of the News Exchange Agency to-day reported that all telephone communications of Belgium, Holland and Scandinavian countries with Germany WC rc suspended, though communication by teleprinter between Germany and Holland continued. The German-Holland telephone service was resumed after some hours. It is understood that the imposition of a military censorship in Germany caused the interruption.
