INQUIRY DEFERRED
CONTROL OF RACING CABINET’S DECISION (Pur Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Because of the war, the Government has decided to postpone the appointment of a commission to investigate the control and conduct of racing in New Zealand. The Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, said yesterday that the plan had not been cancelled, but the war conditions had made a postponement necessary. It was intended. Mr. Parry said, to go into the whole matter of the control and conduct of racing. There had also arisen certain questions of permits and possible readjustments and, in some cases, questions as to whether existing clubs should continue as separate entities or amalgamate. The order of reference was particularly brief, but it gave a very wide field. Members of the commission had not been selected. The Minister added that it was originally proposed that the commission should sit this year.
