PARTY AT NURSE’S HOME
The nurses' home at the Waiapu Hospital, To Puia, was the scene of a jolly afternoon tea, given in honour of Miss Mary Christie, who is to be married early in December to Mr. Eric Knox, Tokomaru Bay.
The lounge was prettily decorated with spring (lowers. Miss Paula Turnbull received the guests, wearing a bottle green ensemble relieved with ecru lace.
The bride-to-be looked charming in
a torquoise blue floral frock, finished at the neck with a posy of lily-of-the valley, and was presented with a pretty bouquet of multi-coloured sweet peas.
During Ihe afternoon competitions were played and won by Mrs. Gully and Mrs. Doig, each receiving a pri/.e. A delightful afternoon tea was served, and at the conclusion the bride-to-be and one of her prospective bridesmaids, Miss Margaret Christie, opened many useful and pretty gifts. Miss Christie thanked everyone for their gifts and good wishes.
Among those present were Mesdames Gully, Doig, G. Knox, Edge, and Winter; Misses Cornish, Turnbull, McCracken, Reeves, M. G. Christie, M. W. Christie, Nightingale, Aston and Campbell.
