SEASON APPROACHES DOGS IN TRAINING A number of Ci-borne dogs look part in the Napier Greyhound Racing Club’s opening meeting of the 193940 season hist Saturday. There was a good attendance. Placed Gisborne do!- were:—R. Corcoran’s ’.ly Peter, which won tlie Electric Stake (lin.iD; L. Ferris’ Gay Peter, first hi the Novice Hurdle 1 -: E Lund's Golden Streak, third in the Marown Stake (open).
In anticipation o r an early start in Gisborne trials will b.’ continued on Saturday, and during the week-end, a working-bee will be organised to put the track and gear in order. As there are a large number of rings ri training and owners are very enthusiastic, ll.(re is every prospect of a successful season. It is understood that Gisborne owners whose dogs are in N«nier are to bring the dogs back !o Gisborne for the opening meeting, the date of which will be announced ,-hortly.
