NAZI POISON GAS LIE
DIAGNOSIS DISTORTED SWISS PROFESSOR USED FOR PROPAGANDA (Reccl. Oct. 25, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 24. The Basle correspondent of The Times says that Professor Staehelin, of Basle University, fears that the Germans are using him for propaganda in support of the future use of poison gas. He was attending in Berlin a patient when the Berlin University asked him to investigate a case of gas poisoning at Jaslo. He said: “I travelled by plane, diagnosed nine solders as suffering from yellow cross gas poisoning, but there was no evidence regarding the circumstances under which the poisoning happened. Tracts mailed to neutrals pretend that a 'Basle professor of European fame witnessed at Jaslo the results of Polish gas warfare. This is untrue.”
