VATICAN PROTEST
CHURCH PERSECUTION GERMANS IN POLAND ARREST OF FAITHFUL PRIESTS ILL-TREATED (Reed. Oct. 24, 3 n.m.) LONDON, Oct. 23. The Rome correspondent of The rimes states that the Vatican, through the Beriin nuncio, has protested to Germany against the oppression _of the church in German-occupied Poland. A report accompanying the protest says that up to October 12, 117 religious houses and 211 churches, were dosed, seven bishops were pastoraily restricted, 193 members of orders were arrested and 50 incidents occurred in which dozens of priests and faithful were ill-treated and injured. The Vatican nay publish docunented evidence if the protest does not succeed.
