Last Night’s Forecast
General situation: An anti-cyclone is centred -west of the North Island and is moving slowly on to the Dominion. Forecast: Winds light to fresh and variable, with sea breezes during the day in many coastal areas, northerly directions gradually predominating, however, from Cook Strait southwards. Seas: In New Zealand waters, slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light and variable winds and slight seas in the northern and central portions, moderate to strong north-west winds and rather rough seas in the southern portion. Weather: Continuing fair to fine over most of ihe Dominion, but some scattered rain probable in' the south-western portion of the South Island; some light frosts probable tonight inland in both islands,' but. temperatures becoming warmer to-mor-row.

Bright sunshine was reported at 9 a.m. to-day at all weather stations along the East Coast, but at Wellington the sky was ,overcast. There were light breezes at some points, but cairn conditions prevailed at most places. The barometric pressure was steady, and the temperatures wore: —"Tail; ranga. 82 degrees; Cape Maria Van Diemen, and Auckland. 5.0; Opoliki. 58: Wellington, CG: Napier, 54; and Gisborne. 50. Midday Forecast General situation. —An anticyclone covers the North Island, while a deep depression is centred to the west of Stewart Island. Forecast. —Light to moderate and variable winds, with north-westerlies gradually predominating. Weather fine and mild, with slight seas.
