CROSSING TRAGEDY

DRIVER PINNED BY CARv IGNITION OF PETROL (l’ur Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., this day. A tragedy occurred at West street level crossing , late yesterday afternoon, when the north-bound Auckland express struck a small car. The driver, who is believed to be George Glasgow Jamieson, Hopelands, near Woodville, was pinned by the feet and unconscious. Difficulty. was experienced in extricating him from the wreckage. Berizine pouring from the tank became ignited and the rescuers were forced to leave the victim, whose clothes were practically burnt oft him before the fire brigade quelled the outbreak. He died on the way to the hospital.
