TAKEN BY KNOCK-OUT

LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE JARVIS BEATS RAYNER END IN 13TH ROUND (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Clarrie Rayner, of Blenheim, 9st. 51b., lost his New Zealand lgihtweight boxing championship title at the Town Hall last evening to the challenger, Jack Jarvis, of Wellington, 9st. 61b., by a knock-out in the thirteenth round. It was a real fighting contest with both men looking for an opening to finish it as quickly as possible. In the earlier stages Jarvis was more than once in difficulties and it appeared that Rayner would retain his title by a knock-out.

The recuperative powers displayed by Jarvis were amazing and he actually made the bout a sensational one.
