Reed. 12 noon . RUGBY, Oct. 19. Some misunderstanding has been caused by the announcement made :i. India on September 11 of the pos.-ponc-ment until further notice of sailings from Indian ports to Jedda in connection with the Hejaz pilgrimage.
This announcement was one of the regrettable but inevitable con.se pueiices of the outbreak of war. I was issued as a precautionary measure only. Certain sailings ai\ scing cancelled, and these only for i-
ciupjrary period. Both British and Indian Governments are alive to the great import:r.ce of providing adequate facilities ,nd safe transport of Muslims wishing ,o undertake the pilgrimage. Every ■Tort, accordingly, is being marie to secure a resumption of sailings, anc arrangements have now been made for the reservation of a certain numr m ships for pilgrims from Indian ports to Hejaz.
