GERMAN CANARD
ANOTHER DENIAL GIVEN ALLEGED JAP. PROTESTS (British Oflicml Wireless.) Reed. 2.15 p.m. RUGBY, Oct. 17. Well-informed circles in London stale that there is not the least justification for a reputed allegation on the German, wireless that the Japanese are indignant at the patrolling by the British Fleet of areas adjoining their territorial waters, not has anything been heard of a Japanese protest in thi? connection. There is, indeed, no ground for such a protest, for the British action in no way interferes with the Japanese operations in the China seas, while Britain allowed the Japanese navy to verify the nationality of Britain's own ships •during the China incident, although Japan could not claim belligerent rights.
