REPAIRS TO FOOTWAY

WILLIAM PETTIE BRIDGE The replacement of defective planks on the footway of the William Pettio bridge at a cost of £79 was agreed to by tlio Gisborne Borough Council lasi night. The borough engineer, Mr. 15. R. Thomas, estimated the cost of replacing the timber decking of the footway at £250, and said that timber supplies would be difficult to obtain. The alternative to replacing the defective planks would provide a satisfactory surface for a considerable time. The report was adopted and it was agreed to bituminise the footway.
