OIL PROSPECTING

TOTANGI WELL REPORT DRILL DOWN TO 5350 FT. FORMATION UNCHANGED The latest bulletin of the New Zealand Petroleum Company, Limited, advises that Totangi No. 1 well has reached a depth of 5350 ft. Drilling is continuing in the same formation.

A recent report that the New Zealand Petroleum ‘Company proposed to withdraw its drilling tools from the Totangi well, and break new ground in the Morere area, has not so far been borne out by events. In recent weeks the drilling crews have been working consistently at Ngatapa, and it is believed that preparations are being made to run a fresh string of casing below the 5000 ft. mark, as a preliminary to pushing on to deeper horizons.
