TRANSFER OF BRIDGES

NEW C. 1.0. ZONE DENAL OF SUGGESTIONS (Reed. Oct. 17, .9 a.m.) N,EW YORK, Oct. 16; Messages from San Francisco state that the president of the Committee of Industrial Organisation, Mr. John L. Lewis, has removed the former Australian, Harry Bridges, from the position of C. 1.0. director on the west coast and has appointed him as regional director in California. Mr. Lewis • denies that the change is a concession against the Communist criticism concerning Mr. Bridges. He says it is merely an organisation drive. Further reports state that the removal of Mr. Bridges is part of a nation-wide administrative reorganisation scheme, enabling more intensive organisation. Mr. Lewis said': “We have been, spreading Mr. Bridges too far.”
