SUCCESSFUL SEASON
TE KARAKA TENNIS GOOD FINANCIAL POSITION (Herald Correspondent.) Mr. E. Cranswick presided over the annual meeting of the Te Karaka Tennis Club, held in the Library last week. The report for the past year showed that the club had had a very successful season and the balance sheet disclosed a strong financial position. During the winter months the three courts were dug up and re-sown and should be in good condition for play this summer.
Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr. IT. Ruru; chairman, Mr. E. Cranswick; secretary and treasurer, Mr. R. H. Brown; committee. Mesdames. E. Cranswick, R. H. Brown, and IT. O’Connell, Misses J. Sanders, J. Russell, and L. Ruru, Messrs. H. Sidney, E. Ruru ancl E. K. Wilson; captain, ,Mr. E. Ruru; vice-captain, Mr. 11. Sidney; hon. auditor, Mr. J. G. Appleton. Mrs. PI. O’Connell undertook to take charge of catering arrangements inconjunction with tlie ladies’ committee. It was resolved to place on record the club’s appreciation of Mr. G. Bush’s services as treasurer last year. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. L. Cooper for his generous donation of a silver cup and two miniatures for competition in combined handicap doubles. Arrangements were made (o hold the official opening day on Saturday, October 21, when an open invitation will be extended to members of other tennis clubs lo attend.
