HIGHER MEAT PRICES
RISE. IN AUCKLAND BUTCHERS DESPERATE LOSSES ON CHARGES ‘ (Per Press Association.) . AUCKLAND, this day. The retail prices of beef and mutton will be increased by Iho Auckland master butchers to-day. It is staled lhal. the butchers are in serious financial difficulties. They have become desperate at the delay in obtaining consent from the Price Investigation Tribunal to increase the retail rates. The prices of pork, veal and lamb are not ailed ed. The butcher; slaled that I hey have been selling for fully seven weeks at retail prices representing a loss of 25s on every bullock and Vs on every sheep.
