NOVEL DISPUTE
TERRITORY QUESTION AUTOMOBILE BODIES MANAWAtU “INVASION” Palmerston North is witn interest an unusual development in matters affecting the Manawatu, Wanganui and Wellington Automobile associations. The Manawatu association has declared “war” on the other two and its service officers have advanced across the borders of its recognised territory canvassing for members and conducting a survey as to what is needed in the way of service, with particular regard to signposting. Officials of the Manawatu association say they have been forced to take this action because the Wellington and Wanganui associations have refused to cede territory which the Manawatu association considers comes within its community of interest. They point out that over a long period they have tried by other means to convice both Wellington and Wanganui that the “invaded” areas rightly belong to the Manawatu association, but both those associations have ignored requests for a round-table talk to agree upon a rearrangement of boundaries.
