DIPLOMATS’ REVOLT

There have been over 100 resignations from the Japanese Foreign Office, arising from a proposal to merge the commercial department with lour other departments in a Ministry of Trade. t The Prime Minister, General Abe, discussed the matter with the Cabinet. The revolt is expected to spread. The Consul-General at Shanghai, and 26 of his staff have also resigned. The Tokio correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain says that the vice-Foreign Minister, Mr. Tani, has offered his resignation, thus assuming responsibility for the resignations.
